works well for recharging my Kindle 1.0Apr 04, 2008
By Graham iGo sells power chargers and also small connectors (called "tips") that connect the chargers to specific electronic devices. The chargers and the tips are sold separately. The idea is that instead of carrying a separate charger for each device you own, you can carry one iGo charger plus connecting tips for your various devices. The Kindle tip listed here is not useful by itself - you also need an iGo charger.
I bought the Kindle tip with the iGo Everywhere Universal Wall Charger as a spare AC charger for my Kindle.
It works well. The pieces (charger, cable, tip, kindle) plug together snugly.
The main drawback is the combination of charger + retractable cable + tip is getting on for twice the size of the native Kindle charger. But the iGo charger can also be used for other devices.
Update February 9th 2009: The Kindle 2 was announced today! It has a new data+power socket using the Micro-USB standard. The tip described here is for the Kindle 1 and won't work with the Kindle 2. The corresponding tip for the Kindle 2 is the iGo Tip A97.

Still waiting for a reply!Sep 05, 2008

I emailed this company, confessed my ignorance regarding my order, and asked a pretty simple question:
"OK, I'm an idiot. I have a Kindle, and I bought the iGo power tip for it (as suggested by Amazon), but didn't quite understand that I also needed an adapter. Now that brings me to my question: If I typically use the wall charger that came with the Kindle, what is the advantage of the iGo power tip? Guess I thought I could 'charge' the tip and then use it to charge the Kindle when I was away from a power outlet."
Nothing I could find in the description told me an adapter was required, nor gave me any information as to the purpose of this item. Mybad for not doing more investigation prior to placing the order. The Customer Service Manager who fielded my email couldn't answer my question, said she'd forward my question ("I will check with sales"), and 10 days later I still have not received a reply, although I've twice reminded them I am waiting.

Use this tip with an iGo Auto Charger to charge your Kindle on the goJan 18, 2008

I have confirmed in practice and using iGo's website that the combination of the iGo Auto PS00227-0005 Universal Auto (DC) charger with this iGo power tip A00 (6600600-01) works to charge my Amazon Kindle in my car. Using iGo's website to confirm this combo enter: select your device=Other, select the brand=Amazon, select the model=Kindle. Also the A00 should work I would think with the iGo Everywhere PS00252-0003 Universal Wall (AC) and Auto (DC) Charger with Retractable Cable although personally I like the original Kindle wall charger.

iGo with MeJun 07, 2008
By J. S. Ferris The usefulness of this product really cannot be overstated. I use a Power Tip for my cell phone as well. With the Kindle (a product as revolutionary as Gutenberg's moveable type) Power Tip and the iGo, there is virtually no place you cannot go--my favorite is on the beaches of Northern California, and on any of the islands of Hawaii. No hot spot areas to worry about, no plugging in and having to be connected to the Kindle while it's being charged. You're free to charge and read in a cave or on Haleakala crater.

A MUST for the KindleApr 15, 2008
By Weatherman If you have a Kindle and want to use the iGo products for the Kindle, then this is the tip you need! You may want to purchase an extra just in case something happens to one. They're simple to use, just pop it on and off the various charger you want to use. But be careful as they are small and easy to loose!
