For Novice Fans OnlyJul 12, 2007
By dwood78 I surely remember this singer; I was a pre-teen when he was a popular singer. It's a shame that he never crossed-over like the late Luther Vandross did, but I'll take Freddie over any of these modern-day R&B singers.
This newest greatest hits is very good, with colorful photos, & an interesting essay by Rashod Ollison (who are also appearly little when Jackson first come out).
So why am I saying that this 18-track GH is for new fans of Freddie Jackson only? First of all, if you're a diehard fan of his, chances are you already got most of his best work. & do be aware that to fit the 18 songs here, many of the songs are single versions (LPs versions of Tracks 1,8,9,& 16 are much better then their shorten counterparts).
As for the novice fan, start out with this & then get his first two LPs "Rock Me Tonight", & "Just Like the First Time" both are still in print. Recently, Jackson released a new LP named "Transitions" from an inde label, & he's still singing like he did 20 years ago.

Freddie at his very best.Mar 06, 2007
By Justo Roteta Freddie Jackson was one of the premier Soul balladeers of the 1980s and '90s. While it would be nice to see all of his Capitol CDs properly reissued in their entirety this collection is a fine distillation of his best tracks for the label. Freddie and his producers (Paul Laurence, Gene McFadden, Barry Eastmond, etc.) made musical magic each time they recorded new music and this CD offers the cream of the crop. An indispensable collection for all who love smooth and romantic Soul.

This guy doesn't receive half the credit he deserves. His music is full of substance and very pleasing to the ears. Hey Lover good track, as well as all the others. Very talented gentleman.
