I purchased this because I like her singing. I especially have been waiting for a good rendition of Pretty Papers and I have found it. Who could resist Shake Me I Rattle? Not me. Love the song.
Easy listening country ChristmasSep 06, 2009

Cristy Lane never quite established herself as a mainstream country singer, but she had a few hits on the American country charts including One day at a time, her only number one hit. Cristy also recorded plenty of Christmas songs as this fine compilation shows. There actually appear to be two different versions. I have the 30 track version although I actually ordered the 27 track version (the only one listed at the website from which I ordered it).
Many of these songs are the old chestnuts that hundreds of other singers have also recorded. I'll admit that I took a close look at the track listing before I ordered it, wondering if I really needed this album, but when I counted the less famous songs, I realized that this was an irresistible purchase for me. Cristy takes the bouncy songs at mid-tempo, so if you want music that rocks hard, look elsewhere. Otherwise, Cristy sings the classic songs in the traditional manner, not trying to do anything new or different with them, but that's fine by me. Cristy has an excellent voice and uses it to good effect.
The less famous songs include five songs that I don't remember hearing anybody else sing (The man from Galilee, Shake me I rattle, A little bit colder, My favorite time of the year, The son of God is born) as well as some songs that don't appear on Christmas albums too frequently although you'll probably recognize them all (Old Christmas card, Up on the house top, Jolly old Saint Nicholas, This is Christmas, It came upon a midnight clear, We wish you a merry Christmas).
Perhaps this album won't suit everybody (does such an album exist?) but there's a huge market out there for easy listening Christmas music. With so many familiar songs, plus a few great but obscure songs, this compilation (whether with 27 or 30 tracks) represents great value for money.
I bought it for one songMay 27, 2009
By D. Mckinzie I wanted this for "Shake Me I Rattle" which my dad used to play for me when I was little. I stil love it. If you like Christmas music and Christy Lane, you'll love it.

Beautifully recorded Christy Lane will leave you with tears in your eyes. This album is truly a Christmas inspiration. "The man from Galilee" and "Shake Me I Rattle" trully capture the true meaning of Christmas.
